The Bay
The Bay is the wave that made Imsouane famous: a right-hand point break that peels slowly along the inside of the bay. On a good swell, rides can last a very long time, which is why longboarders love it.
It is gentle, forgiving and sheltered from the prevailing north wind, so it is one of the best places in Morocco to learn and to progress. It gets busy with schools and longboards: take your turn, don’t drop in.

The Cathedral
On the other side of the harbour, the Cathedral (Cathédrale) faces the open ocean. It picks up more swell than the Bay and breaks faster and steeper, with peaks both ways.
It suits intermediate and experienced surfers. Check the conditions and the currents before paddling out, and ask locally when it’s big.

When to come
The biggest and most consistent Atlantic swells arrive from autumn to spring, roughly October to April. That’s the best time for the Cathedral and for long rides in the Bay.
Summer brings smaller waves and more wind. The sheltered Bay often stays surfable, which makes it a good season for beginners.
Water and wetsuit
The Atlantic here stays cool all year, roughly 17 to 22 °C depending on the season. A 3/2 mm wetsuit works most of the year; bring a 4/3 for winter mornings.
